When I was sixteen years old I sacrificed one of my mothers indian gauze dresses to make this swimsuit. I used instructions from an old 70's sewing book, titled "If You Can't Go Naked Here Are Some Clothes You Can Sew on Fast." The suit is a bit worse for wear and has many sloppy mendings but it's still one of my favorites.

I'm impressed! What's the material? I just learnt how to make a dress and I am exceedingly proud of myself...swimsuit next, perhaps?!
Thank you Eleni, It's made from a shear cotton gauze backed with muslin, maybe not the most obvious choice for swimwear. Good luck with your sewing projects.
What a stunning use of old dresses.
You look as beautiful as the beach. The towel waving in the wind behind you.... The essence of being young andleots free. You could be airborne any minute! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!
I just started to make a bathing suit. First one ever so hopefully it turns out.
Yours is really gorgeous. I love the fabric and the cut. And that last picture is to die for. Sign me up for a trip to Siesta Key. haha
Goodness, there is a great deal of effective info above!
