Key West, 1976.
Their eyes met, dancing in the sunset, bare feet in the sand.
They disapeared into the twisting limbs of the banyan tree.
Branches entertwined, roots mingled and overtime
grew together to became one.
A few weeks ago they came to visit me in florida and I caught a glimpse of those two young lovers.
After 31 years of marriage my folks are still kissing in the banyan trees.
Happy Anniversary

Micha!
That was such a sweet surprise!
I'm overwhelmed. Delighted, Can't wait for Tom to see them!
What delight to be young and in love, wrapped in the roots of a big old banyan.
Yet... How much better it is to still be together, weathering the ups and downs of life. Still finding love in each other.
Just think... this dedication and endurance sparked you into existence.
I've heard it said: "The best thing parents can do for their children is to love each other". It's an anniversary gift we all get to share!
Thank you so much for the memories of what matters!
I especially love the last picture!
This is so spectacular, intimate, and personally connected... (that's me doing the 'heavy lifting' folks) Here's soemthing I think is a fact... that Banyan trees can grow so large that they are the largest known life form on earth... there's a single tree somewhere in India that spread out to cover a 400 acre area.. Is that right, research buffs??
Thanks Micha... I just love this post... by the way... the tree in Key West that's part of the love story grows right next to the Key West Light House, across the street from Ernest Hemingway's house.. I think icirdshnets still there...
This is so wonderful! Happy Anniversary to mama and papa Merrick!
